Grackles
This is some of the first work I made after finishing the Running Amok series. The pigeons have been exchanged for grackles, which are an everpresent black and noisy bird here in Texas. In fact, reused many of the same plates from the earlier series, and telltale signs of Venice are visible in the backgrounds of these images. Foreground, along with the grackles, are mundane scenes from San Marcos: a McDonalds, a Taco Cabana, a car dealership. I think they are intended to show a sense of solitude and of the strange suddenness of change.
